Joseph Lavaux, O.D.
Dr. Lavaux was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry. He adopted Colorado as home in 1965 and practiced primary care optometry from then to 2001 in Fort Collins and Estes Park. He served as a primary investigator of over 40 FDA studies of new products for pharmaceutical and contact lens companies and holds a patent for a dry eye diagnostic test.
Committed to the needs of the poor, he was a founder and team leader of Colorado VOSH and Share the Vision, NPOs that provide vision care to indigent populations in Latin American countries. He was a locum tenen optometrist for several Indian Health Service hospitals and the US Air Force in Tucson, AZ, was the VA in Wala Wala, WA, and a clinic supervisor at Auckland University School of Optometry in New Zealand. He presently enjoys helping patients understand and solve their eye care needs at Associates in Family Eyecare in Loveland, CO.
Dr. Lavaux spends much of his free time in outdoor mountain activities. He enjoys travel, music, cooking, gardening, photography, and dancing. He DJs Latin music and teaches salsa dancing locally with his wife.
